As we age, our teeth can decay, or in more severe cases, gum disease becomes more prevalent, resulting in potential tooth breakage or loss. Practising everyday dental hygiene and regular dental check-ups and cleans will ensure your teeth remain healthy, while your dental x-rays will detect early signs of tooth decay and damage. Our general dental services for existing and new patientsat Sydney Road Dental care include dental bridges.
A tooth bridge is a false tooth made from metals, porcelain, resin and ceramics. They are a viable alternative to dental implants and dentures to replace lost teeth permanently. Dental bridges replace the tooth’s crown (the part above the gum) or provide a replacement for a missing tooth by “bridging” the space with two or more crowns. Once in place, they are not regularly removed and are considered a more permanent treatment.
The porcelain bridge strengthens and significantly alters the appearance of the teeth, improving their overall shape and colour for a bright, healthy smile.
Once the crown has been milled it is now ready to be placed in the furnace which can heat the crown up to 800 degrees celsius.
When dental bridges are recommended
In the case of missing teeth, a dental bridge could be useful for functional and aesthetic purposes, as per the advice of your dentist. Missing front teeth, in particular, can impact your self-esteem. A dental bridge for front teeth can boost your confidence, so you no longer have to hesitate before smiling. A dental bridge can also:
Restore your smile
Restore or maintain your facial structure
Provide equal distribution across the mouth to help you to chew and speak
Prevent misalignment and other teeth from altering their position
What to expect when booking an appointment for dental bridges in Sydney
Our Cerec technology allows our dentists to create tooth restorations and dental bridges by scanning, designing, milling, staining, glazing and issuing the dental bridge in a few hours, all in one visit!
It takes around 30 to 60 minutes to remove the decay and assess the two supporting teeth for crowning. We create the crowns if there is sufficient tooth structure to support them. In some cases, it’s possible to use implants to replace the missing teeth rather than the existing teeth. Once the bridge is locked into position, it looks and functions just like natural teeth.
Our single-day crown service saves you the time and energy of attending multiple appointments. If your dental bridge is of greater complexity, we will provide you with a temporary replacement fabricated by the lab in around two weeks. We do not offer ‘one-size-fits-all’ dental treatment and care — your smile is unique, and so is your treatment.

FAQs
How long do dental bridges last?
You must treat your false teeth as though they are your natural teeth. If plaque builds up around the false teeth in your dental bridge, it will be detrimental to your natural teeth, causing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Dental bridges will last roughly 5 to 15 years if proper dental hygiene is maintained. You can take extra care of your dental bridge by:
Brushing twice a day
Flossing daily around your natural and false teeth to remove plaque
Avoid chewing hard foods like ice or candy
Having regular dental check-ups and cleans
How much do dental bridges cost in Sydney?
At Sydney Road Dental Care, our dental bridges cost varies depending on the specifics and severity of the treatment and the individual patient’s needs. Our team will work with you to personalise a payment plan to ensure you keep up to date with the costs required. Our pricing is affordable enough to ensure our dental service remains accessible across different incomes. Our payment plans are serviced through Denticare, including the option for ZipPay to spread your cost across twelve months and an initial deposit. You can also use your superannuation to pay for your dental crown and other essential dental treatments.
What’s the difference between dental bridges and dental crowns?
A dental crown is a cap placed above the existing decayed, broken, or discoloured tooth or as a replacement for missing teeth to restore the health and appearance of the original tooth. However, a dental bridge is when two crowns are placed on adjacent teeth connected in the middle by a third crown, “bridging” the space. Your dentist will advise if this treatment is helpful for you for preventative, functional or aesthetic purposes.
